Revelations about the huge salaries paid to top managers and presenters in RTÉ have disgusted many people. Politicians in Dáil Éireann latched on to the scandal to divert attention away from themselves.
But now the reality of RTÉ is coming out as unions present their case.
Many workers in RTÉ are on precarious contracts. They are forced into bogus self-employment.
New plans drawn up by the management will see even more on short-term contracts with no proper pensions or sick pay plus the loss of 400 jobs.
The licence fee model is finished. RTÉ needs to be funded directly and paid for by a special tax on digital companies. And its culture needs to change so it is not the voice of D4 Dublin.
